My little friend was open to photographs yesterday morning on our way to school.
I have been making a good faith effort to keep up with my blog again, after a couple of slow months. Please stop in frequently and feel free to comment!
Will and I head off in the morning to the YMCA National Short Course Swimming Championship in Fort Lauderdale. If I can get the technology working, I'll post images from Florida over the coming week.
I'm catching up on a backlog of family and friend photos now that I have the new site launched. Here is my favorite magician, the most magnificant Master Milan.
If you haven't taken a look at the new site, I invite you to visit it. (Link is at right.) I'll be adding more feature galleries over the next week or two.
I've been working on a project with colleagues that is so very exciting on several levels. It's a dynamic literacy project bringing performance poetry to urban youth. This week and next are the slams. I am endless blown away by the powerful voices of these teens and the creativity and poise they demostrate in their performances. They are truly a complete joy to witness and great fun to photograph.
We're also working on a documentary of the project, following the kids and teachers from the classroom through to the national Brave New Voices Slam in San Diego this summer. I am very much enjoying doing the still photography associated with the project. This is David, the filmmaker.
I had the honor of photographing Miss Maya for her second birthday. She was an absolute doll -- full of warmth, joy and character. This was a very special shoot for reasons soon to be revealed. Stay tuned for some fun news from Laura Brophy Photography.
