sisters

I had the pleasure of spending a few hours with these beautiful girls on Saturday morning. What fun we had, even in the rain! I so love exploring Sonnenberg Gardens with little people. One can only imagine what a wonderful place it was to spend summers as a child.

harvest nears

A drive through the country tonight was crying out for the camera. I need to make time in that magical hour before sunset to explore this beautiful area in the fall days ahead.

pool

A quick test with the 5D at the pool. It's a bit slower, but the clarity and color is perfect.

morning at the pond

I enjoyed meeting this family and spending time together at Mendon Ponds Park yesterday morning. What a wonderful location to explore. There was not a cloud in the sky and we were running between sun and shade to keep up with 3-year-old Knox, but they were natural, easy subjects to capture.

ben

Senior season continues. I had a great time capturing Ben this morning in gardens and fields. He was a good sport, and even humored me by carrying a chair into a clover field.

michael

I had a great two-part senior session with Michael. The letterman jacket photos were taken this afternoon with the new 5D, and the third was taken last month.

Thanks Michael for your patience and good humor with me. It was so much fun working with you!

crystal clear

I'm really loving the new toy. I've been experimenting and trying to get comfortable with the new camera and glass. I have a session at work tomorrow and want to be 100% comfortable with it before I jump in and use it when it counts. Will gave me a few minutes of his time yesterday. I think the lighting is interesting here...natural light being diffused through white sheers.

Nora asked me if I worked these eyes in photoshop, and the honest truth is no. Great light in the eyes and they really light up.

new camera!!!

This was a quick experiment with a favorite client, who stopped by to pick up an order. I joked that I would be bribing the kids all weekend to help me learn the new camera, and she offered up these two sweeties. Thank you Melissa and Anaka for playing with me today!

a walk in the stream

I will confess to being in something of a photographic slump this month. Rachel and a walk in the stream soothed my soul on Monday. It was a rather gloomy, overcast day, but the light hovering around the stream was perfect. Rachel has been a reluctant subject lately, but was most willing to play in the stream with me. She declared it to be "just like in my dream," her highest complement.

It looks like blogspot's compression on these really did a number on some, so please feel free to click on them to see a larger image.

prince milan

I've been playing a bit on this rainy day on an old favorite of Prince Milan. I've been admiring the work of Jessica Dittmer, who is an amazing artist working in photoshop blends. Her style is subtle, yet sophisticated. While inspired by her, my blend lacks her grace, but I hope has a fun of its own. Rachel LOVES this and wants her own queen picture.
